Lady Hornets Basketball Projected to Finish 2nd in SWAC Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference revealed its 2022 women's basketball Predicted Order of Finish with Alabama State projected to finish second. The preseason poll was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Jackson State took the number one spot on the list with 19 first-place votes followed by Alabama State tabbed to finish second. Southern University was projected to finish third with one first-place vote, followed by Alabama A&M in fourth with one first-place vote, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff with one first-place vote also (5th) to round out the top-five preseason projections. 

Grambling State was tabbed to finish sixth with Prairie View A&M right behind them in seventh place. Texas Southern takes the eighth place spot, followed by Bethune-Cookman (9th), Florida A&M (10th), Alcorn State (11th), and Mississippi Valley (12th) in the final spot.

The Alabama State women's basketball team kicks off the 2022 campaign in Dallas, Texas at Southern Methodist University on Monday, November 7, 2022, inside Moody Coliseum at 4 p.m.
