Hornets Volleyball Sweeps Jackson State on Senior Night

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | On the night when the Lady Hornets honored five seniors, the Alabama State women's volleyball team clinched their sixth straight win in a 3-0 sweep over the Jackson State Tigers inside Lockhart Gymnasium. The Lady Hornets recorded their second-straight sweep in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Lady Hornets found themselves down, 11-7 early in set one before tying the score at 12 apiece midway through the first frame.
  • Despite the first set deficit, Alabama State claimed a 1-0 set lead after taking the first frame, 25-19.
  • JSU forced an extended set but eventually fell, 28-26 to ASU. Alabama State extended their advantage to 2-0
  • The Lady Hornets secured the sweep after taking down the Lady Tigers, 25-21 in set three.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Alabama State tallied 42 kills on 86 total attacks with an attack percentage of .384 in the win.
  • Jackson State recorded 38 kills on 96 total attacks for a hit percentage of .188.
  • Jada Rhodes (15) and Kalysia Bates (11) led the Lady Hornets in kills. Rhodes registered a team-high .448 attack percentage for the Lady Hornets
  • Madison Beasley led all setters with a game-high 20 assists and five digs. 
  • Emily Brooks tallied 16 assists at the setter position for ASU.
  • Temperance Chatman led ASU in digs with 11 total and two assists to add to her stat line.
  • On the defensive end, Kalysia Bates and Maya Thompson registered two blocks apiece.
