Higashi Nets Two Goals in Shutout Win Over UAPB

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Elli Higashi netted two goals to help push Alabama State to a 3-0 shut out over Arkansas - Pine Bluff on Sunday (Oct. 9) at the ASU Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Elli Higashi struck first for Alabama State in the 33rd minute in the first half on a helper from leading goal-scorer, Kassandra Schoen (6).
  • Higashi found the back of the net for the 2nd time today with just 11 minutes (79') left to play in regulation.
  • Just three minutes later, Brooklyn Broderick tallied her first score of the year on a shot from the top of the box to put ASU ahead 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Sheila Sanchez continues to climb the NCAA rankings as she moves to eighth in saves per game with 6.89 per match. While posting her fifth shutout of the season, Sanchez recorded three saves on the day.
  • Elli Higashi tallied her first two goals of the season in the 33rd minute of the first half and in the 79th minute of the final period.
  • Brooklyn Broderick sealed the win for Alabama State with her score in the 82nd minute.
  • Alabama State put up 9 shots with seven on target. 
  • Arkansas - Pine Bluff managed 12 shots with only three on goal.
