LOS ANGELES, Calif. | The University of Southern California (1-1) jumped out to a big first half lead on the way to a 96-58 win over the Alabama State University (0-2) men's basketball on Thursday night at the Galen Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 5-0, the Hornets used an 8-2 run to take an 8-7 lead after a Duane Posey 3-point play at the 15:06 mark of the first half.
- USC answered with a 10-run to take a 17-8 at the 11:52 mark of the first half.
- An Alex Anderson layup and Kendal Parker 3-pointer trimmed the USC lead to 34-23 with under five minutes to go in the first half.
- The Trojans closed the half on a 14-0 run, holding the Hornets without a field goal over the final 4:08 of the half to build a 48-23 halftime lead.
- The Hornets grabbed 20 rebounds in the first half, seven on the offensive glass.
- USC went on a 12-2 run to open a 60-25 lead on a Drew Peterson basket with just over four minutes gone off the second half clock.
- An Anderson layup cut the ASU deficit to 62-31 at the 13:29 mark but could not climb any closer the rest of the way.

- The Trojans scored 22 points off 20 ASU turnovers and outscored ASU 46-28 in the paint.
- THE PAC-12-SWAC LEGACY SERIES -- The Legacy Series provides student-athletes with educational opportunities focused on social justice and anti-racism to encourage civic engagement and leadership. Through the sport of basketball, the work of the EJI is being highlighted to promote justice, reckoning, and healing through their Legacy Museum and Memorial. During the Alabama State visit, the teams had a joint dinner at the Galen Center Founders Room on Tuesday, where several Trojan administrators who went to HBCUs spoke to the teams. There will also be a short video about the series which will run on the video board during the game. USC is scheduled for a return visit to Alabama State next season.
