MALIBU, Calif. | TJ Madlock's 17 points led three players in double figures, but the Alabama State University (0-3) men's basketball fell to Pepperdine University 91-62 on Sunday at Firestone Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- TJ Madlock had a steal and layup, and Eric Coleman dialed up a 3-pointer to tie the game 5-5 with 16:53 left in the first half.
- A Madlock jumper in the paint and two Alex Anderson free throws cut the Pepperdine advantage to 16-9 near the midway point of the first half.
- Alabama State had a 3:21 drought and Pepperdine used a 12-0 over to build a 28-9 lead with just under 10:00 to play in the first.
- Madlock ended ASU's drought with back-back-jumpers and a Darrell Reed layup cut the Waves lead to 31-15 with 8:04 to go in the first half.
- Isaiah Range hit a jumper on the end of an 8-0 the Hornets' run got ASU within 12 at 37-25 with 3:18 remaining in the first half.
- The Waves answered the ASU run with a 10-0 run to hold a 47-25 halftime lead.
- Coleman had a three and a Range basket accounted for the first five points of the second half to cut into the Pepperdine lead.
- The Waves' started the second half making 8-of-11 shots and went on an 18-2 run for a 71-32 lead with 12:25 remaining.
- Alex Anderson combined for five points, and the Hornets had a 13-3 run to trail 79-51 at the 6:10 mark.
- A Roland McCoy 3-pointer cut the Pepperdine lead to 88-62 with 2:09 to go but that was as close as the Hornets would climb.
