STARKVILLE, Miss. | Jayla Crawford scored a team-high 12 points but Alabama State fell short to Mississippi State 81-46 on Friday night (Nov. 18) inside Humphrey Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Despite six points from Samiya Steele in the opening period, Alabama State fell behind 24-12 to Mississippi State.
  • Alabama State opened the second quarter with a 5-3 run to cut the deficit to nine points (27-18).
  • Ayana Emmanuel scored four points in the second quarter but MSU's lead grew to 44-23 heading into the intermission
  • Jayla Crawford erupted for nine points in the third quarter but the Lady Hornets fell behind 66-36 with one quarter left to play.
  • Alabama State scored 10 fourth-quarter points but wasn't able to cut the deficit enough as Mississippi State secured an 81-46 victory at home. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Jayla Crawford scored a team-high 12 points, including nine points in the third quarter. 
  • Ayana Emmanuel scored 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field and 2-of-6 from three-point land.
  • Cordasia Harris grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in her first start of the season. 
  • Samiya Steele led Alabama State in three-pointers after going 3-of-9 from behind the line.
  • Alabama State shot 18-of-62 from the field and 5-of-7 from the foul line.
  • Cordasia Harris (3) and Ayana Emmanuel (2) led ASU in steals.
