Season Preview: Lady Hornets Basketball Set to Start the Season on the Road at SMU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State women's basketball team has released the 2022-23 schedule with 11 games at home in Dunn-Oliver Acadome this season.

The Lady Hornets are slated to start the 2022-23 campaign in Dallas, Texas, to take on Southern Methodist University on Monday, November 7, followed by a trio of SEC opponents to start the season. The Lady Hornets will travel to Athens, Georgia to take on the University of Georgia (Nov. 10), Mississippi State University (Nov. 18), and Auburn University (Nov. 20). 

December begins with a contest against Texas Tech University (Dec. 1). The Lady Hornets will remain in the Lone Star state to go head-to-head against Abilene Christian University the following day (Dec. 2). ASU returns home to play their home opener against Samford University on December 7, followed by another trip to Texas for a matchup with the University of Texas on December 11th. The Lady Hornets conclude the month of December against Jacksonville State (Dec. 14), South Alabama (Dec. 17), and the University of Mobile (Dec. 19).

The Hornets kick off conference play in Montgomery with games against Arkansas - Pine Bluff (Jan. 2) and Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 4). The Lady Hornets hit the road again for matchups against Jackson State University (Jan. 7) and Alcorn State University (Jan. 9). 

The team returns to Alabama to take on conference rival Alabama A&M University (Jan. 14) in Huntsville, Alabama, only to make their way back home to play Prairie View A&M (Jan. 21) and Texas Southern University (Jan. 23) in the comfort of Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Alabama State then takes a trip to Florida to play Bethune-Cookman University on January 28th and Florida A&M University on January 30th. 

February starts with a pair of home games against Grambling State (Feb. 4) and Southern University on February 6th. The Lady Hornets then head to Arkansas to face UAPB (Feb. 11) and Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss. (Feb. 13). The Lady Hornets return home to play Florida A&M (Feb. 18), Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 20), and rival Alabama A&M (Feb. 25) on Senior Day. Alabama State wraps up the regular season in Louisiana against Southern University on March 2nd, and Grambling State University on March 4th.
