- Samya Brooks scored ASU's first points but SMU ended the first quarter with a 20-4 advantage.
- The Lady Hornets scored 12 second quarter points to cut the deficit to 42-16 heading into the intermission.

- Alabama State scored 10 points in the fourth quarter but SMU held on to win, 76-39, in the 2022 season opener.

- Jayla Crawford led the Lady Hornets in scoring with 12 points on 4-for-11 shooting from the field and 20 percent (1-for-5) from three-point land.
