Emmanuel's Game-High 21 Points Not Enough as @BamaStateWBB Falls to the Texas Longhorns

AUSTIN, Texas | Ayana Emmanuel led all scorers with a game-high 21 points but the Alabama State women's basketball team fell short to the Texas Longhorn 107-54 on Sunday afternoon at the Moody Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Samiya Steele scored Alabama State's first points but Texas held an eight-point advantage (10-2) with three minutes gone off the clock.
  • Alabama State fell behind 34-13 heading into the second quarter. Ayanna Emmanuel finished the first frame with five points.
  • Dakiyah Sanders knocked down a three-pointer to start the second quarter to cut the deficit to 34-16.
  • Emmanuel scored eight of the Lady Hornets' 19 second-quarter points to send ASU into the intermission down by 21 (56-35).
  • Jayla Crawford responded to a Texas score with a fastbreak layup on a steal from Cordasia Harris to cut the deficit back to 21 (58-37) just one minute into the third quarter.
  • The Longhorns' lead grew to 34 points over the Lady Hornets headed into the final frame.
  • Ayana Emmanuel finished with 21 points but the Lady Hornets fell to the Texas Longhorns 107-54.

  • Ashley Gray tied with Emmanuel for a team-high in rebounds with four total.
