Crawford and Emmanuel Combine for 47 Points in @BamaStateWBB loss to Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Jayla Crawford and Ayana Emmanuel combined for 47 points but the Lady Hornets fell short to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks 70-61 on Wednesday night inside Pete Matthews Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Ayana Emmanuel, Jayla Crawford, and Cordasia Harris combined for an early six points to give Alabama State a 6-0 lead with six minutes left to play in the first quarter.
  • Crawford outscored JSU with six first-quarter points to give ASU a 12-1 lead headed into the second frame.
  • Ayana Emmanuel responded to a 5-0 JSU run with a two-point jump shot to extend ASU's lead back to 14-6.
  • The Lady Hornets scored seven second-quarter points to head into the intermission with a four-point advantage (19-15).
  • JSU opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take their first lead of the evening at 22-21 with 7:50 to play in the third quarter.
  • Crawford scored a quick five points to push Alabama State back in front by five just one minute later (26-22).
  • Jayla Crawford scored 15 third-quarter points to give the Lady Hornets a narrow one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Emmanuel registered five points in the first three minutes of the fourth followed by a score from Cordasia Harris to extend ASU's lead to three (47-44).
  • The Gamecocks put together an 8-2 run to take a 52-49 lead with just under six minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
  • Ayana Emmanuel erupted for 15 points in the fourth quarter but the scoring effort wasn't enough as JSU went on to win 71-60.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Jayla Crawford (24) and Ayana Emmanuel (23) combined for 47 of Alabama State's 60 points on the night.
  • The Lady Hornets shot 37% from the floor, 25% from three, and 85% from the charity stripe.
  • Alabama State held the lead for just under 29 minutes on the evening.
  • Cordasia Harris snagged a team-high nine rebounds with six points to add to her stat line. Harris also led the Lady Hornets in blocks with two.
  • Alabama State's leader in assists, Dakiyah Sanders, led ASU in assists with four helpers.
  • On the defensive end, Harris and Sanders registered two steals apiece.
