Crawford and Harris Selected to SWAC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State's Jayla Crawford as the player of the week and Cordasia Harris as the impact player of the week for their outstanding performances against Texas Tech and Abilene Christian this past weekend.

Senior Jayla Crawford was named player of the after her 22-point performance against Texas Tech and a season-high 29 points against Abilene Christian on Friday (Dec. 2). The Birmingham, Ala. native grabbed two steals and three rebounds against TTU and then shot 10-of-21 from the floor against Abilene Christian the next day with five three-pointers to add against ACU. Crawford is currently fourth in the SWAC in scoring with 16.6 points per game.

Junior Cordasia Harris was selected as the impact player of the week after posting a total of 27 points, ten rebounds, a block, and a steal during the weekend. She averaged 13.5 points and five rebounds per game in two non-conference outings at Texas Tech and Abilene Christian. Harris also logged a season-high 21 points against ACU on Friday. Harris is currently ranked eighth in the SWAC in rebounding with an average of 2.3 boards per game.

The Alabama State women's basketball team returns to action tomorrow (Dec. 7) as they take on Samford University inside Dunn-Oliver Acadome at 5:30 p.m. for their home opener.
