NEW ORLEANS, La. | Alabama State dropped their final game of the Andrew Dawson Classic to New Orleans, falling to the Privateers 10-0 at Maestri Field on Sunday.
New Orleans (3-0) jumped on the board with three runs in the third inning after loading the bases, before adding four more in the seventh and three in the eighth for the run-rule win over Alabama State (1-2). The Hornets were held to three hits on the night, with three different players picking up hits in the game.
Austin King (Fulton, Miss.) worked 5.0 innings in his first start of the season, giving up three runs (all earned) off three hits. King (0-1), one of five pitchers used on the night also finished with six strikeouts.
Kevin Matos (San Juan, PR) came in and worked a scoreless sixth for the Hornets.
