JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State picked up four wins in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, but it wasn't enough as they fell to Jackson State 4-3 on Sunday.

Alabama State (2-4, 1-1 SWAC) picked up the doubles' point with wins at number two and three to start the match. After dropping the first doubles' match of the day, the team of Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) and Timothee Legaud (Severac, France) picked up a 6-2 win to even the competition. They were able to pick up the point when the number two team of Urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) and Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) picked up a 6-4 win at number two.

Leading 1-0, Alabama State picked up two more wins in singles play to go up 3-0 before Jackson State was able to come back for the win. Francesca Duca (Ploiesti, Romania) picked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Natalya Ogunwale at number four, before Velec picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Tyra Nicole-Whyte at number three. The Tigers came back to tie the match at 3-all before a three-set match at number one decided the overall score.
