MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State (6-8) picked up a pair of wins on Saturday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex in an 8-0 win over South Carolina State followed by a 1-0 win over Alabama A&M.

After freshman
Olivia Brown (Bonaire, Ga.) started in the circle with a strikeout and two pop ups,
Madison Myers (Brownsville, Tenn.) led off the bottom half of the inning with a walk and stole two bases en route to scoring on a single from
Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.).

DeRamus also scored two bases in the inning and scored two batters later on a passed ball to gain an early 2-0 lead.

Brown retired the side in the second and provided offense of her own in the second with a base hit to right to drive in
Arianna Atchley (Millbrook, Ala.) who singled earlier in the inning.

The Hornets later extended their lead in the bottom half of the fifth, as Myers led off the top of the order again by beating a ground ball to second base. She later advanced to second on a bunt by DeRamus, and both runners scored later in the inning the first on a groundout from
Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) and the second from a sacrifice fly from
Jaeda Gardner (Pike Road, Ala.).

Alabama State scored again in the sixth after an RBI single to left from Atchley to bring home
Alexia Denby (), followed by a sacrifice fly from
Aishja Wilcher (Barnesville, Ga.). Pinch hitter
Alex Massie (Pottsboro, Texas) ended the ball game with an RBI double for the 8-0 final.

Brown (1-1) picked up her first collegiate win, working 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit and striking out a pair of batters.
Ashley Pye (Stockton, Calif.) came in for the remainder and allowed three hits.

Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) won a pitching duel in game two, pitching a perfect game against the Bulldogs, facing 21 batters, and striking out five. The junior (4-5) also recorded 13 force outs and three groundouts.

Destinee Dixon (Bullard, Texas) drove in the single run for the game in the sixth, bringing in DeRamus for her third score of the day.

The Hornets pounded out six hits as a team, led by two from DeRamus, while Dixon, Gardner,
Kianna Parrish (Stockton, Calif.) all added one.

Alabama State will return to the field on Saturday as they take on South Carolina State at 11:30 am followed by Alabama A&M at 4:30 pm at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
