|Â Alabama State fell on the road to Grambling State 88-56 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Saturday afternoon inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Arena.

The Hornets trailed 21-15 after the first quarter and struggled offensively going forward as they were outscored 27-17 in the second and 20-15 in the third quarter.
Alabama State finished the game shooting 40.4 (21-for-52) percent from the field, 23.5 (4-for-17) percent from deep and just 47.6 (10-for-21) from the charity stripe. They were forced into 17 turnovers on the day, good for 27 points for the Tigers.

Shmya Ward (Memphis, Tenn.) led Alabama State with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting with three rebounds.Â

Ayana Emmanuel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) added 11 points and 10 points respectively.

Alexus Holt led all scorers with 28 points on the afternoon, followed by Ariel Williams and Justice Coleman who added 16 and 13 points respectively. The Tigers shot 53.4 percent from the field (31-for-58), 46.2 percent from deep (12-for-26) and 73.7 percent (14-for-19) from the free throw line.
