MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State won their second consecutive match in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at the SWAC Pod II, defeating Prairie View A&M 4-0 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Friday.
Doubles Play
- Alabama State opened play in doubles with a pair of wins including the clinching match at number with the team of Urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) and Anja Hribljan (Novi Sad, Serbia) picking up a 7-5 victory after a win by the Panthers at number one to even play up.
- The Hornets won the first doubles match of the day at number with the team of Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) and Timothee Legaud (Severac, France) picking up a 6-1 victory.
Singles Play
- The Hornets claimed three singles matches to clinch the match with three others still in play, beginning with a win by Lizaveta Demchenko (Mogilev, Belarus) at number three over Jada Hill 6-0, 7-5; while Legaud won her match at number five over Claudia Medina 6-1, 6-4.
- Alabama State won their singles match of the day with Ana Tarbujaru (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) picking up a 7-5, 6-3 victory over number six

- Alabama State returns to action against Grambling State on day two of the SWAC Pod II, with the match scheduled to start at 2 pm on Saturday (March 12) at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
