MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State junior catcher Hunter May (Slidell, La.) was one of 76 catchers named to the 2022 Buster Posey Watch National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List, announced this weekend by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.

May is one of two players from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (Taj Porter from Southern) and three from a school in the state of Alabama named to the list. So far this season, the junior is hitting .298 with an OPS of .961 through 17 games. He is 17-for-57 on the season with 16 runs scored and six doubles, while also connecting on a pair of home runs and nine RBIs. He also has a slugging percentage of .509 and an on-base percentage of .482, while also throwing out six runners attempting to steal.

The watch list will be updated to include other candidates until May 4 before it is narrowed down to the semifinals on May 19, 2022. Ballots will be sent out to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced on June 7, with the winner announced on June 29.
