TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama State won their sixth consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match with a 4-0 victory over Florida A&M on the road on Sunday morning.
Alabama State (8-6, 7-1) has won six of their last seven matches, with its only loss coming in non-conference action against WKU earlier this week. The Hornets and Florida A&M were scheduled to meet on February 26.
Doubles Play
- Urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) and her partner Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) combined to win their match at number two doubles over Adrienne Clayton and Haleigh Porter, 6-3 to clinch the match. Â
- They were joined in the win column by the number three team of Timothee Legaud (Severac, France) and Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) with a 6-1 victory.
Singles Play
- Alabama State got three singles victories to clinch the match including at number three by Lizaveta Demchenko (Mogilev, Belarus) with 6-4, 6-0 victory over Sierra Sandy.
- Francesca Duca (Ploiesti, Romania) won her match at number four 6-3, 6-1 over Florida A&M's Clayton 6-3, 6-1.
- Legaud won her match at number five 6-2, 6-1 to help clinch the match.
