MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State claimed the doubles' point and won two singles matches before
Kristofer Johnson (Bromley, UK) clinched the third singles point for a 4-1 victory over Southern Miss at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Match
- Alabama State win the doubles' point which was tight in all three matches including a 7-6 victory by Southern Miss at number one. The team of Ruan Du Preez (Cape Town, South Africa) and Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Katmandu, Nepal) won a 7-6 match over Dhruv and Shamirul Shahril of Southern Miss.
- The number three team of Matis Amier (Epernay, France) and David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) won a 7-6 decision over Antoine Audrain and Pasawee Reansuwong.
- In singles play, the Hornets picked up a win at number five from Grandinot in straight sets over Christopher Cahour 6-3, 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The lead grew to 3-0 when Amier picked up a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Pawin Jirapoomdaje at number six, before Johnson clinched the match with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win at number four over Audrain.
