MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State blanked Prairie View A&M 4-0 in their opening match at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pod II hosted at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Friday. In their four wins on the day, Alabama State dropped just three total points.
Doubles Play
- Alabama State opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles action on their way to picking up the first point of the match, while leading the third match when the point was decided.
- The number three team of Matis Amier (Epernay, France) and David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) defeated the Prairie View A&M team of Juan Viada and Adrien Blackwell 6-0, before the number two team of Ruan Du Preez (Cape Town, South Africa) and teammate Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Katmandu, Nepal) won 6-2.
Singles Play
- Alabama State claimed three singles victories quickly, dropping just one point in the process.
- Grandinot defeated Blackwell at number five 6-0, 6-0 before his teammate (and doubles teammate) Amier won his match at number six singles 6-0, 6-0.
- The match was decided when Bajracharya won his match at number two over Diego Hatem 6-1, 6-0.
