MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) converges on the city of Montgomery and the Alabama State University campus with the SWAC Tennis Pod II beginning on Thursday afternoon.

On the women's side, Alabama State (2-5, 1-1 SWAC) looks to end a modest two-match losing streak and get back on track after a conference loss back on February 20. The Hornets will face Bethune-Cookman at 2 pm (Thursday, March 10) prior to facing Prairie View A&M at 2 pm (Friday, March 11). The Hornets will play two other matches including Grambling State (Saturday, March 12) and Southern (March 13).

Four different players for the women have recorded two or more victories in singles play this season, with Urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) winning a pair of matches in conference play. In doubles, the team of Velec and Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) are 4-1 on the season.

Meanwhile, the men face Prairie View A&M in their lone match in conference play this week against Prairie View A&M at 2 pm (Friday, March 11). The Hornets enter the week following a 4-1 victory over Southern Miss in their last home match on Sunday.

Four different players on the men's side have recorded multiple wins this season in singles play for the Hornets, with three different doubles' combinations recording multiple victories.

Admission is free to all home tennis matches at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, while masks are mandatory on the Alabama State campus and all athletic facilities. The weather during the week of play calls for showers throughout the week and partly cloudy/sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday.
