Shoen's Hat Trick Powers Alabama State To First Conference Win

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Alabama State women's soccer team picked up their first win in conference play in a dominating 5-0 victory over Prairie View A&M on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • Kayleigh O'Neal netted the first score for Alabama State just nine minutes into the contest on an assist from Elli Higashi to put the Hornets ahead by one. 
  • Kassandra Shoen fired one into the back of the net in the 13th minute for her first of three goals on the day to give ASU a 2-0 lead early in the first half.
  • Katelyn Walerczyk joined in on the scoring effort with a goal in the 18th minute on a Katherine Nedved assist to extend Alabama State's advantage to 3-0.
  • Madison Tyler handed out an assist in the 61st minute to Shoen for her second score of the game and to balloon the lead to 4-0.
  • Shoen secured the hat trick with 15 minutes left to play (75') on a helper from Zeta Chevalier, giving Alabama State their largest lead of the season at 5-0.
