MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Duane Posey's tip-in with six seconds to go lifted the Alabama State University men's basketball team to a 56-55 win in overtime over Prairie View A&M University on Saturday at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome at the Mitchell Center. 
 
Jordan O'Neal was one of two Hornets with double-doubles, scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds followed by Posey with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Range added 11 points to close out the Hornets in double figures.

 HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The first half went back and forth with five ties and six lead changes.
• Alabama State scored 13 points of its 28 points at the free throw and made three 3-pointers in the first half.
• The Hornets held a 28-26 lead before a Hegel Augustine tip in at the buzzer to tie the game 28-28 at halftime.
• Alabama State grabbed a 30-28 lead before Prairie View went on a 6-0 run to take a 34-30 lead 2:00 into the second half.
• Two Jordan O'Neal layups helped tied the game 34-34 with just over 15:00 left in the second half.
• Isaiah Range canned a 3-pointer from the corner as the game went under 8:00 to play tied 42-42.
• The Hornets went 8:37 without a field goal before Range ended the drought with a 3-pointer to give ASU a 47-46 lead at the 5:23 mark.
• The Panthers went up 40-48 with under 3:00 to play on an Augustine free throw.
• Damien Madison hit two free throws with 1:04 to tie the game 50-50.
• The Panthers had two chances in the final :23 but miss fired on both attempts at the end of regulation.
• O'Neal tipped in a missed jump shot with :19 left in overtime giving the Hornets a 56-55 lead.
• Prairie View missed its final attempt at the buzzer as the Hornets escaped.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

• The Hornets scored 22 of their 56 points from the free throw line, knocking down 20 plus free throws for the fourth time this season.
• Posey and O'Neal notched their second double-doubles of the season. O'Neal finished with 11 points and 13 boards while Posey had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
• Range had 11 points to round out the double-figure scorers for the Hornets.
• Augustine led the way for Prairie View with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
• Nikkei Rutty also collected 10 rebounds for the Panthers.
