TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama State men's basketball could not climb out of a 16-point second-half deficit as Florida A&M University claimed a 59-58 win on Monday inside the Al Lawson Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- TJ Madlock and Isaiah Range combined for Alabama State's first nine points but it was Florida A&M that held an 11-9 lead four minutes into the game.
- The Hornets went through 4:35 drought before a Duane Posey layup cut the Florida A&M lead to 12-11 with 11:49 remaining in the first half.
- The Rattlers took a 20-12 lead, using a 13-3 run with 8:42 to go in the first half.
- Trailing 25-14, Alabama State went on a 7-1 run to trail 25-21 with 4:10 left in the opening half.
- Range scored the next seven points for ASU to close the gap to 30-28 with under 2:00 to play in the first half.
- The final four points of the half belonged to Florida A&M as it carried a 34-28 lead into halftime.
- Florida A&M would build a 50-36 lead on a 14-4 run with 14:11 showing on the second half clock.
- A Christian McCray three cut the deficit to 60-50 at the 6:07 mark.
- Range hit two free throws to trim the FAMU lead to 62-55 with 1:56 left in the game, but the Hornets would get any closer the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Range scored in double figures for the 10th consecutive game and 16th time this season, accounting for 16 points.
- Madlock added 10 points to score in double digits for the sixth time in seven games.
- Range and Posey grabbed five rebounds apiece to pace the Hornets on the boards.
- The Rattlers held a 37-34 rebounding edge, but the Hornets collected 14 offensive rebounds.
- Alabama State's bench outscored the FAMU bench 21-6 and held a 32-30 advantage on points in the paint.
- Jaylen Bates and Jordan Tillman led the Rattlers with 15 points apiece, while Bates had a game-high eight rebounds.
