Alcorn State Pulls Away From @BamaStateMBB

LORMAN, Miss. | Alabama State University men's basketball had five players score in double figures only to see Alcorn State University pull away in the second half for a 92-76 win on Monday at Davey L. Whitney Complex.
 
Alex Anderson led the way with 13 points, followed by Roland McCoy with 12. Isaiah Range, TJ Madlock and Duane Posey added 10 points.

 HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Roland McCoy hit four three-pointers, and the Hornets were 11-of-22 from the floor to trail 40-48 lead at halftime. 
  • The Braves went on a 9-0 to take a 49-40 lead two minutes into the second half. 
  • Range cut the Hornets deficit to 51-45 at the under-16 media timeout of the second half. 
  • Alcorn grabbed a 55-45 lead with a 4-0 run on a Jeremiah Kendall basket.
  • Alabama State cut the deficit to 55-51 after an Alex Anderson basket on a 6-0 run with 12:24 left. 
  • Keondre Montgomery's 3-pointer helped Alcorn State open a 70-55 lead with under 10 minutes to go in the second half. 
  • Alabama State got within 11 points twice in the final 10 minutes but could not climb any closer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Alabama State made 20-plus free throws for the third time this season, making a season-high 29-of-33 free throws. 
  • The Hornets placed five players in double figures for the first time this season with Anderson leading the way with 13 points. 
  • Roland McCoy scored 12 points followed by Isaiah Range, Duane Posey, and TJ Madlock with 10 points. 
  • Posey grabbed six rebounds to lead the Hornets on the board. 
  • Montgomery's 23 points and eight rebounds led Alcorn State. 
  • Dominic Brewton followed with 16 points and six rebounds followed by Byron Joshua with 17 points. 
  • The two teams combined to make 49-of-61 free throws on the afternoon.
