MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road this weekend heading to the state of Mississippi to play a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matches beginning Sunday.

Alabama State (7-12, 6-0 SWAC) will face Jackson State (9-7, 5-1 SWAC) on Sunday afternoon, leading the Tigers by one game in the conference standings. They will then head a bit farther west to face Mississippi Valley State (4-14, 0-6 SWAC) on Monday afternoon. The matches will end a 14-match road swing that ends next week when the Lady Hornets return home.

Alabama State Notes
- Madison Beasley and Jada Rhodes earned SWAC Player of the Week honors for their performances in Houston. Beasley was named the Setter of the Week after registering 96 assists over the weekend, including 50 against Prairie View A&M. Meanwhile, Rhodes registered 49 kills over the weekend.
- Beasley continues to climb the charts at Alabama State in three different categories including in assists where she is at 1,928 career assists – needing just 72 more to reach 2,000. She is also 15th in digs and 11th in service aces.
- Rhodes is currently eighth in kills at 869, needing just 10 to tie Briana Dorsey for seventh all-time. She is also 10th all-time in digs with 635. She trails teammate Temperance Chatman who has 714 career digs.
- Jylen Whitten and Taila Gaines return to Jackson State where they started their careers and became graduate transfers this season. They join assistant coach LaToya Clark in returning to Jackson, where she finished her career with 5,035 assists.
Jackson State Notes
- The Tigers enter the weekend having won five of their last six matches with their only loss coming to Florida A&M on the road in four sets.
- Jackson State has won its only two matches played at home this season, a five-set win over ULM and a four-set victory to open conference play against Mississippi Valley State.
- Alexis Williams leads three players with 100-plus kills this season for the Tigers with 185. She is joined by Hope Briggs (164) and Nyjha Marcelin (114).
- Naija Gadis leads the Tigers with 302 assists, while Karys Dove has added 233.
- Jackson State is looking for its first win in the series since 2021 when it swept three matches from Alabama State.
Mississippi Valley State Notes
- The Devilettes enter the weekend looking for their first win since September 19 when they defeated LeMoyne-Owen in four sets.
- Seerdyn James leads Mississippi Valley State with 75 kills, while Michayla Black has added 62.
- Mississippi Valley State is looking for its first win in the series since 2012, a string of 19 matches.
