Adams, John Earn SWAC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference selected Alabama State University linebacker Colton and kicker Jayden John as its Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week on Monday, Sept. 9, 2023.

Adams earns his second SWAC weekly honor after recording 13 tackles, six solos to go along with a sack, and two tackles for loss in the Hornets 19-14 win over Bethune-Cookman last week. The Wetumpka, Ala., native also blocked a BCU field goal attempt to add to his day.

John made two field goals from 24 yards out in the Hornets Homecoming win. His first 24-yard field goal came on ASU's opening drive, and his third quarter field goal gave the Hornets a 19-7 lead.

Alabama State travels to Jackson State on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Miss.
