Stewart and Saunders have stellar outing, but Hornets to Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Damon Stewart threw for 372 yards and Tyree Saunders tacked on 120 receiving yards, but Alabama State fell to Prairie View A&M 21-14 on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers improved to 6-5 on the year and 6-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Hornets fell to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in conference matchups.

Stewart went 27-for-38 on the way to the 372-yard, two-touchdown performance without throwing an interception.

Marcus Harris II paced the Hornets rushing attack by accumulating 13 yards over the course of the game. A.J. Gates also added 11 yards on the ground.

Saunders' 120-yard, two-touchdown performance led the Alabama State receiving corps. Kisean Johnson also hauled in nine passes for 92 yards and Ja'Won Howell chipped in with three grabs for 61 yards as well.

Mikey Victor showed out for the Alabama State defense, collecting one interception. Team added and Jayce Medlock had in the loss.

The Hornets won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing one turnover while avoiding any giveways.
