MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to Lockhart Gymnasium to close out the regular season with three consecutive matches beginning with Alabama A&M on Friday night.
 
The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
 
Alabama State (14-12, 13-0 SWAC), winners of 13 consecutive matches, clinched a share of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season title on Sunday with its win over UAPB. The Lady Hornets can wrap up the regular season championship with a win on Friday or a loss by Prairie View A&M and Jackson State.
 
Meanwhile, Alabama A&M (10-17, 9-4 SWAC) enters the night after dropping its last match against Prairie View A&M at the SWAC Cluster in Jackson (Miss.). The loss ended a nine-match winning streak for the Bulldogs.

Alabama State Notes

• The Lady Hornets have five players who have registered 100-plus kills including Jada Rhodes with 264 on the season. She has recorded 959 for her career and is just 41 shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to register 1,000 career kills.
• Jylen Whitten, who recently recorded her 1,000th career kill, has 247 on the season, while A'Nylah Cobb (196), Taila Gaines (159), and Christyn Ashby (109) are in triple figures.
• Meanwhile, Madison Beasley leads the team with 536 assists on the season and became the fifth player at Alabama State to reach 2,000 career kills. Emily Brooks is second on the team in assists this season with 352 and has recorded 823 career assists, just 46 shy of Tara Schwenke (2003) for 12th all-time.
• Temperance Chatman leads the team defensively with 397 digs, pacing four players with triple digits in the category. She has recorded 851 career digs, leaving her 20 shy of Emersen Belles (2019-21) for sixth all-time. She is just 41 away from the top five all-time at Alabama State.
• The Lady Hornets continue to be one of the toughest serving teams in the conference and the country, ranking second in service aces with 188 which is good for 29th in the nation.
• They lead the conference in aces per set (1.81/39th in the NCAA) and assists per set (11.01).

Alabama A&M Notes

• The Bulldogs had won their previous nine matches before falling to Prairie View A&M in their final match of the SWAC Cluster, 3-0.
• Alabama A&M is led Bailey Duckett offensively with 230 kills, while Saldy Amparo Smith has recorded 203 and Caitlin Shaw 162.
• Grace Tapscott has recorded 358 assists and Mackenzie Jefferson has added 339 to lead the Bulldogs, while Michelee Jerez leads the team with 273 digs.
