MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the floor for a pair of matches this weekend at Lockhart Gymnasium to close out the regular season beginning Friday night.
Alabama State (15-12, 14-0 SWAC) hosts Mississippi Valley State on Friday night (Nov. 10) at 6 p.m. and then will host Jackson State on Sunday at 3 p.m. for Senior Day. Before the match on Sunday, the Lady Hornets will honor nine seniors.
The Lady Hornets have faced both teams already this year on the road, defeating Mississippi Valley State 3-0 and Jackson State 3-1. Alabama State has already clinched the regular season title and the top seed for the tournament heading into the weekend.

Alabama State Notes
- The Lady Hornets have five players who have registered 100-plus kills including Jada Rhodes with 274 on the season. She has recorded 969 for her career and is just 31 shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to register 1,000 career kills.
- Jylen Whitten, who recently recorded her 1,000th career kill, has 257 on the season, while A'Nylah Cobb (208), Taila Gaines (163), and Christyn Ashby (117) are in triple figures.
- Cobb recorded her 500th career kill last week against Alabama A&M, and Gaines needs just four more to reach that number for her career.
- Meanwhile, Madison Beasley leads the team with 553 assists on the season and became the fifth player at Alabama State to reach 2,000 career kills. Emily Brooks is second on the team in assists this season with 372 and has recorded 843 career assists, just 26 shy of Tara Schwenke (2003) for 12th all-time.
- Temperance Chatman leads the team defensively with 406 digs, pacing four players with triple digits in the category. She has recorded 860 career digs, leaving her 11 shy of Emersen Belles (2019-21) for sixth all-time. She is just 32 away from the top five all-time at Alabama State.
- The Lady Hornets continue to be one of the toughest serving teams in the conference and the country, ranking second in service aces per set at 1.82 which is good for 34th in the nation.
- They lead the conference in assists per set at 11.15.
Mississippi Valley State Notes
- The Devilettes enter the match having dropped their last 14 matches, all conference matches, and have not won since defeating LeMoyne-Owen on Sept. 22.
- In its last match, Mississippi Valley State dropped a 3-2 decision to Bethune-Cookman at home on Senior Day, winning the fourth set to force the deciding set that was won by B-CU 15-9.
- Seerdyn James leads Mississippi Valley State with 118 kills on the season, while Mikayla Lee has recorded 385 assists.
- Defensively, Ashlynn Hawkins leads four players in triple digits in digs with 184.
Jackson State Notes
- The Tigers enter the weekend having won five of their last six matches but had their five-match winning streak snapped by Florida A&M.
- Alexis Williams leads four players in triple-digit kills with 284, while Hope Briggs has 239. Nyija Marcelin (183) and Jordan Jones (135) are also in triple digits.
- Naija Gadis leads the team with 447 assists and Karys Dove has added 394, while defensively, Trinity Bryant has recorded 329 digs.
