Alabama State Upended By Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's basketball team got nine points from April Hooks in a 94-37 defeat to the Auburn Tigers at Neville Arena on Wednesday.

Cordasia Harris led the Hornets (0-8) with four points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Anaja Hall also added two points, six rebounds and four blocks from the bench and Shmya Ward helped out with three points and two steals.

Alabama State did a great job disrupting Auburn shots in the contest, coming away with seven blocks. Hall's four rejections led the way individually for the Hornets.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 27-2 at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 46-13 halftime deficit.
  • Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 76-22 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled four of the team's nine third-quarter points.
  • Alabama State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 94-37. Alabama State took advantage of five Auburn turnovers in the quarter, scoring six points off of those takeaways.
