Harris and Dunn Net Career-Highs In Loss at DePaul

CHICAGO, Ill. | Alabama State University got career-high production from Cordasia Harris and Whitney Dunn but fell to DePaul University 98-69 on Sunday at Wintrust Arena.
 
Harris finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 32 points and nine rebounds and Whitney Dunn added 23 points.
 
The Lady Hornets outscored DePaul 45-33 in the second on 45 percent shooting from the floor.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 30-13 at the end of the first quarter.

The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 65-24 halftime deficit.

After intermission, Alabama State cut its deficit to 77-38 before going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Che'Mya Carouthers, to trim its deficit to 77-43 with 41 seconds to go in the third. DePaul countered and stretched its lead to 80-43 heading into the fourth. Alabama State played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 19 points in the paint.

Alabama State narrowed its deficit to 88-54 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Harris' layup, to shrink the deficit to 88-62 with 2:43 to go in the contest. DePaul responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 98-69. Alabama State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 16 of its 26 points in the paint.
