@BamaStateMBB Rally Comes Up Short Against FAMU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University men's basketball team's rally from a 13-point second-half deficit came up short in a 60-54 loss to visiting Florida A&M University on Saturday at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
  • The Rattler used a 7-1 run to break to take a 15-6 lead at the midway point of the first half. 
  • Alabama State outscored FAMU 9-3 over a three-minute stretch to cut the deficit to 18-15 after a pair of Alex Anderson free throws with 7:19 left. 
  • A Jaylen Bates bucket helped the Rattlers push the lead back to 22-16 with just over four minutes to play in the first half. 
  • Florida A&M shot 56.5 percent to hold a 31-22 halftime lead. 
  • The Rattlers went on a 9-3 run to build the lead to 40-25 with just over three minutes gone off the second half clock.
  • A Jordan O'Neal 3-point play cut the deficit to 53-34 at the 13:06 mark of the second half. 
  • Damien Madison's 3-pointer cut the FAMU lead to 46-39 at the 9:48 mark of the second half. 
  • A 5-0 run cut the FAMU lead to 50-44 after an Alex Anderson free throw with 3:56 left in the second half. 
  • Madison stroked another 3-pointer to cut the lead to 52-49 with 1:48 remaining. 
  • Alex Anderson kept the Hornets within strikeout distance at 54-51 with a 3-point play with 43 seconds left. 
  • Jordan Chatman made two free throws to put FAMU up 56-51 with 39 seconds to play. 
  • The Rattlers converted 6-of-6 free throws around a TJ Madlcok 3-pointer to hold off Alabama State for the 60-54 win. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Posey led the way with 14 points for the Hornets.
  • O'Neal had double-figure rebounds for the fourth time this season, finishing with 12 and nine points. 
  • Byron Smith led FAMU with 16 points, and Bates had 11 rebounds.
