@BamaStateSB Falls To Grambling on Sunday

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama State University women's softball finished the 2023 Mardi Gras Classic with a 3-2 mark, falling to Grambling State 6-0 on Sunday.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grambling State scored a run in the first, fourth, and sixth innings before padding the lead with a three-run seventh.
  • The Tigers scored an unearned run in the first on a throwing, while the run in the fourth came home on a ground out.
  • GSU added a run in the fourth on a wild pitch.  
  • India Wells drove in two runs of GSU's three runs in the sixth. 
IN THE CIRCLE
  • Madison Myers (0-1) gave up a run on four hits with a strikeout as the pitcher of record for Alabama State.
  • Payton Shells tossed a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts to earn the win for Grambling State.
INSIDE THE BOX
  • Myers, Kindall DeRamus, Alexa Denby, and Leah Richardson accounted for Alabama State's four hits. 
  • Wells led Grambling with two hits and two RBI.
