@BamaStateSB Sweep Twin Bill From Albany State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's softball posted 7-2 come from behind win over Albany State University in the night cap of a doubleheader on Wednesday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex. The Lady Hornets claimed a 12-2 run-ru;le win in game one.

 HOW IT HAPPENED – GM 1

  • Alabama State scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Kindall DeRamus had a sac-fly RBI and Kiana Parrish singled home a run.
  • Albany State scored its lone run in the top of the third before the Lady Hornets answered with 9 runs in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Alexia Denby had an inside-the-park home run and Alex Preston followed with a solo home run to centerfield to start the scoring in the inning.
  • Preston would drive in two more runs with a single and Lauryn Mayer had an RBI single in the third.
IN THE CIRCLE – GM 1
  • Bailey Greenlee (3-1) worked 3.0 innings, recording five strikeouts and allowing one run on a hit.
  • Kylie Barnet (1-1) gave up 10 runs on seven this with three strikeouts to take the loss for Albany State.
  • Oliva Brown scattered two hits over 2.0 scoreless innings in relief of Greenlee.
INSIDE THE BOX – GM 1
  • Dendy went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored.
  • Preston finished 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
  • Mayer was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GM 2
  • A Taylor Jackson RBI single gave Albany State a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
  • The Lady Hornets used a two-run fourth to take a 2-1 lead. A run scored on a ground out and Parrish had an RBI single in the inning.
  • Ramona McCleod hit a home run to left to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth.
  • Alabama State answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Leah Richardson got a run home with a single. Jaeda Gardner doubled home a run and DeRamus tripled in a run.  
IN THE CIRCLE – GM 2
  • Hailey Dyson (1-0) worked one inning, allowing a run on two hits to earn the win.
  • Ashley Pye (1) gave up one run on six hits with three strikeouts to earn the save.
INSIDE THE BOX – GM 2
  • Denby went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
  • Preston finished with single and two RBI.
  • DeRamus collected two hits, including an RBI triple.
