MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Jaeda Garnder's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Alabama State University women's softball a 9-8 win over Southern University on Sunday at the HBCU Celebration Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern scored six unearned runs in the top of the second inning to build a 6-0 lead.
- The Lady Hornets got on the board with a run in the second. Jaeda Gardner reached on an infield single, scoring Elizabeth Williams to cut the Southern. Lead to 6-1.
- Kindall DeRamus scored on a delayed double steal to cut the deficit to 6-2 in the bottom of the third.
- Alabama State scored five runs to take a 7-6 lead. Williams doubled in a run, followed by a Madison Myers' RBI single. Myers later scored on a wild pitch and a run on a sac fly.
- Trailing 8-7, the Hornets tied the game 8-8 when Myers scored from third on a passed ball in the sixth.
- Williams drew a two-out walk and stole second base to move into scoring position. Gardener singled to center to bring home pinch runner JaNiyah Boykin with the game-winning run.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Bailey Greenlee (5-1) tossed 1.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit with a strikeout to pick up the win.
- Kairah Williams gave up five runs on four hits to suffer the loss for Southern.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Kindall DeRamus had two hits, including a double.
- Gardner went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
- Myers, Denby, and Williams drove in runs
- Alex Preston also collected two hits for the Hornets.
