MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State women's basketball team saw a late eight-point lead evaporate on Miracle Saxon's late jumper that gave Grambling State University a 52-51 win on Saturday at the Acadome.
 
Ayana Emmanuel's layup gave Alabama State a 51-50 lead before Saxon's jumper with 1.6 seconds left put Grambling State up 52—51.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
	- Ayana Emmanuel netted nine of the first 11 points to help the Lady Hornets to an 11-3 lead in the first quarter. 
 
	- Miracle Saxon scored four straight points to cut ASU's lead to 13-10 with 2:51 to go in the first quarter. 
 
	- Alabama State went on a 7-0 run to build a 20-10 lead heading into the second quarter. 
 
	- Shmya Ward's layup ended a 7:18 ASU drought to make the score 22-13 with just under 3:00 left in the second quarter. 
 
	- Both teams went a combined 2-for-27 from the field in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets carried a 22-15 lead into halftime. 
 
	- The lead was cut down to 22-18 before Alabama State scored the next four points to take a 26-19 lead in the third quarter. 
 
	- Grambling State got within two points before Jayla Crawford made two layups to push the lead to 45-28 with 1:34 left in the third quarter. 
 
	- A Ward layup with :10 to go in the third quarter gave Alabama State a 37-32 lead heading into the final quarter. 
 
	- Grambling State went on a 7-2 run to cut the ASU advantage to 43-39 at the 6:14 mark of the fourth quarter. 
 
	- Emmanuel answered with a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 46-39 with 5:55 to go. 
 
	- Crawford dialed up a long-range three to buy ASU A 49-43 lead with under 4:04 to go in the contest
 
	- The Tigers used a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game 50-49 with 11 seconds left in the contest. 
 
	- Emmanuel's layup put the Lady Hornets ahead 51-50 with five seconds left before Saxon hit a shot with 1.6 left to give Grambling State a 52-51 lead. 
 
	- A Ward game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer hit off the front of the iron.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
	- Ward grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds and scored 20 points to register her second double-double.
 
	- Emmanuel finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for ASUå.
 
	- Saxon posted a double-double with 12 point and 12 rebounds to lead Grambling State.
 
	- Alabama State blocked a season-high 10 shots on the aftenroon.
