Hornets Power Past Lindenwood, 11-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Jack Hay hit two of Alabama State University' four home runs and Omar Melendez had a complete game nine strikeout performance in a 11-0 win over Lindenwood University on Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex 

Meledez scattered five hits and notched his second straight complete game to improve to 3-0.
 

Randy Flores
and Jayden Sloan went deep in addition to Hay's two homers.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The game was scoreless until the third inning when the Hornets plated four runs. Flores' two-run home run
  • Alabama State plated five runs in the fifth. Hay and Sloan each hit two-run home runs and Flores had an RBI triple. 
  • Hay hit a two-run home run in the sixth to make the score 11-0.  
ON THE MOUND 
  • Omar Melendez (3-0) tossed his second straight complete game, posting nine strikeouts while scattering five hits with one walk over 8.0 innings. 
  • Preston Salazar (0-3) gave up nine run son 13 hits with a strikeout as the pitcher of record for the Lions.  
INSIDE THE BOX 
  • Alabama State had 16 hits, including seven extra base hits. 
  • Flores fell a double shy of the cycle, going 4-for-4 with a triple, a home run and two singles.  
  • Matos went deep for the second time in three games, finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored. 
  • Hay went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI.  
  • Sloan was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
