BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State's Ian Matos and Omar Melendez for SWAC Baseball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of non-conference play.
 
Hitter of the Week
Matos hit .474 in five starts with three home runs, two doubles, and nine RBI. He went 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI in a 13-3 win over Jacksonville State. Matos went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and 2 doubles in game 1 versus Lindenwood. He closed out the series with a 2-for-4 performance with 4 RBI, a home run and three-runs score to help clinch a series sweep of LWU.

Pitcher of the Week
Melendez, who earned SWAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time in the young season, notched his second straight complete game with a five-hit shutout of visiting Lindenwood University on Friday. He struck out 10 batters against just one walk and did not allow an extra-base hit.
