HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears scored a run in the first and second innings and added three more runs in the third to build a 5-0 lead.
- Alabama State got on the board with an Alexia Denby home run to cut the deficit to 5-1 the fourth inning.
- Mercer answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 9-1.
- Jordan Caple singled and scored on a Ryleigh Baker ground out trim the Mercer lead to 9-2.
- Mercier ended the game with a home run to make the final 10-2 in the fifth inning.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Starter Bailey Greenlee (6-5) gave up two runs on one hit with a strikeout in 2.0 innings of work as ASU's the pitcher of record.
- Katie Rearly (5-3) picked up the win for Mercer, registering six strikeouts and allowing one run on a hit in 4.0 innings of work.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Denby's home run was her team-best ninth of the season and has homered in three straight games.
- The Hornets had three hits, two for extra bases, that included a Kianna Parrish double and Denby's home run.
