HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern jumped out to an 11-2 lead 0 lead on a Genovea Johnson layup just under three minutes into the third quarter.
- Alabama State would go on a 9-2 run to close the first quarter to trail 22-13 after a Jayla. Crawford basket with 18 seconds left.
- Shmya Ward and. Crawford scored ASU's first four points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 24-18.
- Down 34-25, Ward and Emmanuel trimmed the SU lead to 34-29 with 3:54 to go in the second quarter.
- Crawford made a layup with 2:13 to go in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets trailed 41-34 at the half.
- The Jaguars went up 52-39 after an Amani McWain free throw with 5:07 remaining in the third quarter.
- Southern outscored the Lady Hornets 13-6 to close the third leading 58-48 to the fourth quarter leading.
- The Lady Hornets went on a 6-0 run tail 69-61 at the 4:18 mark of the fourth quarter.
- Southern made three straight free throws to extend the lead back to 72-61 with under two minutes left.
