Alabama State Men’s Tennis Defeats Columbus State, 4-3, in Regular Season Finale

MONTGOMERY, ALA. | In its last home match of the regular season, the Alabama State men's tennis team recorded an exciting 4-3 victory over the Columbus State Cougars on Saturday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.

The Match 
  • Cougars captured the doubles point to start the day with a 1-0 advantage
  • After a victory on doubles court three, the Cougars posted a narrow win on court three to win the paired event
  • Ruan Du Preez recorded the first win in singles play, posting a 6-4, 7-5 win on court two over Tommaso Schold
  • After the Cougars took a victory on court five, Matis Amier went 7-5, 6-3 on court four against Armin Trklja to even the match at 2-2
  • Just seconds after Juan Rodriguez's 6-3, 6-4 win over Felix Steen on court six, David Grandinot clinched the victory for Alabama State, defeating Santiago Perez 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on court one
