HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Shadai Colon carried a bid for a no-hitter into the seventh inning as Alabama State University baseball claimed a 6-1 win and a series sweep over Alabama A&M on Sunday at Bulldog baseball field.
A leadoff single ended Colon's no-hitter bid in the bottom of the seventh. Colon struck out five and allowed a run on two hits over 6.0 innings pitched.
Randy Flores had three hits, including a double, three stolen bases and three runs scored to lead ASU's 15-hit attack.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama State jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Randy Flores singled and stole second and third before scoring on a passed ball.
- Trent Jamison singled home Flores, who singled, in the third to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead.
- Ian Matos had a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning.
- Ali Lapread doubled home Kyler McIntosh in the seventh and Cristian Lopez scored on a Flores sacrifice fly in the eighth to make the lead 6-1.
- Colon's bid for a no-hitter with a leadoff single in the seventh. A run would score when Jamal George gunned down Chevalier Dorris on a stolen base attempt.
ON THE MOUND
- Hornets' starter Shadei Colon (3-0) allowed a run on two hits with five strikeouts to earn the win.
- Jorhan LaBoy worked the final 3.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing no hits to earn the save.
- Noah Whitted gave up four runs, three earned, on nine hits with a strikeout as the pitcher of record for Alabama A&M.
