DAYTONA, Fla. | Alabama State University softball erased a 3-1 deficit in the seventh inning to upend Bethune-Cookman 4-3 and avoid a series sweep on Sunday at Sunnyland Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama State took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kindall DeRamus singled and stole second base before scoring on a wild pitch.
- The lead held up until the third inning when the Wildcats tied the game on a Carrington Robinson RBI single.
- Bethune-Cookman scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings to break the tie and take a 3-1 lead.
- Alana Scott and Brooke Ramsey singled to start the three-run seventh inning. DeRamus singled home Ramsey and Scott to tie the game. Pinch-runner JaNiyah Boykin also came home on the play after a BCU throwing error to give the Lady Hornets a 4-3 lead.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Oliva Brown (6-2) tossed 2.0 relief innings, allowing one run and three hits to earn the win.
- Bailey Greenlee (2) pitched a scoreless seventh with a strikeout for the save.
- Victoria Guzman gave up a run on a hit with two strikeouts in 0.2 innings to take the loss for Bethune-Cookman.
- BCU starter Halyne Gonzalez gave up three runs on three hits with six strikeouts.

- DeRamus finished 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Lady Hornets at the plate.
