@BamaStateSB Earns 6-2 Win to Sweep Series From MVSU

ITTA BENA, Miss. | Alabama State University softball claimed a 6-2 win to sweep the series with Mississippi Valley State University and claim a school record 29th win of the season on Sunday at the MVSU Softball Field. 

The 29
th win eclipses the old mark of 28 set by the 2016 Lady Hornets!

HOW IT HAPPENED    
  • Madison Myers walked and scored on a Alana Scott double to give the Lady Hornets a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  
  • The Devilettes tied the game in the bottom of the first on a Breeuana Troup single.  
  • Alabama State reclaimed a 4-1 lead with a three-run second. The Lady Hornets stole four bases and got RBI singles from Jasmine Rogers and Madison Myers.  
  • A Shelby Carson RBI single cut the Lady Hornets' lead to 4-2 in the fourth.  
  • Alana Scott walked with the bases loaded to give the Lady Hornets a 5-2 lead.  
  • Jasimine Rogers doubled home Alexia Denby to stretch to lead to 6-2 in the top of the seventh. 
IN THE CIRCLE    
  • Starter Bailey Greenlee (18-8) went 3.0 innings, allowing one run on a hits. 
  • Oliva Brown worked 3.0, yielding one run on two hits to earn the win in relief. 
  • Shu Shu Tsosie (0-7) gave up six runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and four walks to take the loss for MVSU. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Rogers drove in two runs on a pair of hits, including a double.  
  • Denby was 2-for-4 with two runs scored
  • Gardner went 2-for-4 with a run scored. 
  • Scott drove in a pair of runs while DeRamus and Myers had two RBI apiec.e 
  • Alabama State stole 10 bases in the game led by DeRamus with three steal. 
  • The Lady Hornets collected double-digit hits for the19th time this season, totaling14 on the afternoon.
