MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University baseball scored a run in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie and claim a 6-5 wi over UAB on Tuesday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Corey King got the scoring started with a solo home run to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the second inning, 
  • The Hornets claimed a 2-0 lead when Trent Jamison singled and later scoerd on a Kyler McIntosh sacrifice fly in the third.  
  • Alabama State added three runs in the fourth to build the lead to 5-0. Corey King singled and scored on a Cristian Lopez double to right-center field to make the score 3-0 in the fourth. King scored when Randy Flores reached on a fielder's choice and Chrisitan Lopez scored on a McIntosh single. 
  • UAB plated five runs in the seventh to tie the game 5-5 in the seventh.  
  • The Hornets reclaimed a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Randy Flores singled and later scored from second base on a wild pitch after advancing to second on an error.

ON THE MOUND 
  • Omar Melendez (11-0) earned the win relief, yielding one hit over one third of an inning. 
  • Thomas Ballard (1-1) gave up a run on one hit with a strikeout as the pitcher of record for UAB/ 
  • McIntosh (1) recorded his first save of the season, recording the final two outs in the ninth.  
INSIDE THE BOX 
  • King had two hits, including his seventh home run of the season.  
  • Alabama State had 13 hits, recording double figure hits for the 31st time. 
  • Ali Lapread, McIntosh and Trent Jamison had two hits apiece. 
  • The win was Alabama State's 34th of the season, tying the mark for most regular season wins under Head Coach Jose Vazquez.
