HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Abdiqadir Mohamed and Shamia Jones led Alabama State at the Southern Showcase at the John Hunt Cross Country Park Friday morning.
 
Mohamed led five Alabama State runners with a time of 25:57.50 in the 8k race on the men's side. He finished just ahead of teammate Jon Coulter with a time of 27:52.90 and Amos Beadle with a time of 28:41.60.
 
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Jones finished with a time of 19:11.30 to lead seven Alabama State women across the line in the 5k race. She finished just ahead of a pair of teammates Taisha Benjamin (20:44.80) and Rebecca Bernadin (20:52.30). Four other runners finished within four minutes of each other for the Lady Hornets including Taliah Wickett at 21:34.20.
