TUCSON, Ariz. | Alabama State fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-15) to Long Beach State in its second match of the Wildcat Classic at the McKale Center on Friday afternoon.

A'Nylah Cobb led Alabama State with 13 kills, while
Emily Brooks led the Lady Hornets with 14 assists and
Madison Beasley with 11. Brooks and
Temperance Chatman led the team with eight digs, while Beasley added seven.

SET 1 | Alabama State opened the first set scoring the first three points highlighted by a pair of kills from
Jylen Whitten before Long Beach State got on the board. They extended the lead to 4-1 on another kill from Whitten and held a 5-3 lead after a kill from
Jada Rhodes. The Beach answered with a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 lead and force a Lady Hornet timeout. The two traded points until Alabama State tied the set at 11-all, Long Beach State went on a 4-1 run to take a 15-12 lead. Long Beach State pushed the lead to five to force a timeout before Alabama State ended the run at 18-14 before they were able to put the opening set away.

SET 2 | The two teams traded points early in the set with Alabama State grabbing a 4-3 lead following a kill from Rhodes' solo block from
Ma'Kayla Jones. They were able to grow the lead to 6-4 on a kill from Cobb an attack error from The Beach. From there, the teams traded points until Alabama State used a pair of kills from Whitten to force a timeout and grab an 11-8 lead. The Beach tied things up with a 3-0 run of their own to tie the match at 11-all before Alabama State pushed the lead to 16-13 forcing another timeout from Long Beach State. However, Long Beach State answered with a 4-0 run out of the timeout to force Alabama State to take one of its own down 17-16. After Alabama State battled back to tie it at 18-all, Cobb found space on the court and dumped the ball over for a 19-18 lead. The Beach went on to close out the set to take a 2-0 lead.

SET 3 | The Lady Hornets took an early lead in the set off a pair of kills from
Taila Gaines before Long Beach State was able to tie the set and take a 7-5 lead. After Long Beach State took its biggest lead of the set at the time at 11-7, Alabama State was forced to call a timeout and responded with a kill from Whitten to trim the deficit to 11-8. The Beach built the lead to 15-8 before a timeout from the Lady Hornets.
