HOW IT HAPPENED
- Florida A&M got the board first with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jeremy Moussa to Marcus Riley to take 7-0 lead with 6:10 left in the first quarter.
- A Jayden John 25-yard field goal got the Hornets on the scoreboard down 7-3 early in the second quarter.
- Moussa tossed a 36-yard touchdown pass to Jamarri Gassett for a 14-3 FAMU lead at halftime.
- Asa Gregg caught a batted ball out of the air and raced into the end zone for a 47-yard touchdown to cut the FAMU lead to 14-10 just over two minutes into the third quarter.
- Isaiah Major returned an interception 34 yards to extend the FAMU lead to 23-10 with 3:43 left in the fourth quarter.
OFFENSIVE NOTABLES
- Johnson led the Hornets with seven catches for 112 yards.
- Ja'Won Howell had six catches for 35 yards and rushed 12 times for 30 yards.
- Stewart completed 60 percent of his pass attempts, completing 23-of-38 passes for 299 yards and one touchdown.
- Alabama State had 302 yards of total offense, 289 through the air.
DEFENSIVE NOTABLES
- The Hornets held the Rattlers to 353 total yards, 55 yards below their 408-yard norm.
- Damuarez Bellamy had five tackles followed by Colton Adams and Cail Jackson with four.
