MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road looking to stay atop the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings, facing in-state rival Alabama A&M on Friday night.
 
The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside T.M. Elmore Gymnasium in Huntsville (Ala.).
 
Alabama State won its first two conference matches of the season on the road over Florida A&M (Friday) and Bethune-Cookman (Sunday), while the Bulldogs both dropped of their contests against the Florida schools.

Alabama State Notes

• Alabama State won three of the four conference Player of the Week awards this week after its performance in Florida with Madison Beasley (setter), Jylen Whitten (offensive), and Temperance Chatman (defensive) earning the nods.
• Jada Rhodes continues to climb the career charts in kills (811) and digs (607). She is currently 30 behind Chelsey Scott for eighth all-time in kills and is just three away from the top 10 in digs.
• Beasley is currently fifth all-time at the school in assists with 1,814, sitting 338 behind Ana Pego for fourth all-time. She is also 16th in digs (465) and 11th in service aces (92).
• Chatman is currently ninth all-time in digs at 639, she trails Kayla Torres (767) for eighth place.
• Whitten, a transfer from Jackson State, currently sits at 929 kills for her career and has posted 134 this season. She had a career-high 385 kills during the 2019 season. 

Alabama A&M Notes

• The Bulldogs are looking for their second win of the season, and first since beating North Carolina Central on August 25. They have dropped 19 of their last 20 matches dating back to last season (including two losses to Alabama State).
• The match will be the first home match for the Bulldogs since November 11 of last season.
• Bailey Duckett leads Alabama A&M with 122 kills and is hitting .133 on the season, while Grace Tapscott (161) and Mackenzie Jefferson (148) lead the team in assists.
